The day after, Sawdust-Saturday
2017, Saturday, the day following the 20th. While the world revolves around the Sun, making reality visible here in Europe just a little earlier than on that continent, on the other side of the ocean, seven hours away in time, terrorists, religious extremists, chicken flu viruses, climate changes, marching neo-Nazis, anti-vaccination parents, disease-spreading mosquitoes, rainforest demolishers, looters, fake news and Mafia are bosses no longer the biggest threat to humanity. Stupidity, illiteracy, lack of compassion, indifference, anger and short-sightedness are suddenly the human characteristics of which we should be afraid, yes maybe hopelessness s one of the to, especially combined with a form of democracy where only empty promises and ordinary lies determine who can pull the power towards themselves because for decades, since the second world war, they’ve been consciously working, to get increasingly articulate citizens degrade back to medieval pheasants. The vaunted democracy as a tool to legitimate the powerful elite as chosen to representatives. Erdogan, Putin, Orban, Netanyahu, May, Szydło and Trump have in common as that all of them were chosen during "democratic elections", and are honored with a great form of narcissism and nationalism. It is contagious, like a virus, and there are many populist manipulative politicians in the starting blocks to accomplish the same thing. Wilders, Le Pen and Petry, to name a few, all spinning yarn at the anger and educational hidden defects of the masses. There’s no place to hide in a globalised world, and it makes little sense, unless you live behind the dikes, below sea level, than it is wise to seek higher grounds, because how unpleasant the society may evolve, history shows that there are always enough people remaining after a bloody war or revolution. And Yes, eventually it will come to that. That is, if the fight starts on time because all these "democratically" elected dictators have another dangerous thing in common, their vision for the future extends only up to the end of their own lives, and that is about the same moment that this planet, for humanity and for their own children and grandchildren, is beyond saving. I have no children, which is a conscious choice. The hill where I live seems high enough and the world seems far away at the crack of dawn, as the fog hangs over the valley. It shouldn’t worry me, I will get through that last "gray hair period", but somehow I don’t get rid of these silly troublesome characteristics as the compassion for those who have to flee, worrying for those who are worse of than me and that inexplicable aversion against injustice. With the limited choices that I have on a day like today, I'm just going to try to make something beautiful, because here, on the lonely hill, we baptized the first day of the weekend to Sawdust-Saturday ...
