The speed of change and disappointment
2017, day 6, just a Friday on which half of the people in The Netherlands wake up disappointed because the frost didn't give the wanted results last night. The ducks are still swimming laps in the aqueous surface of the ice rinks, while about two thousand honest citizens are proud of the “thank you note” from the tax authorities they found on the doormat, because they were so kind to report a family member, neighbour or former girlfriend as fraudster. Not that a lot of those accusations was proven, as it usually is just harassment bleaching from resentment or envy, yes, during a neighbours feud or a divorce the tax office is a close ally, not when it comes to international wealthy tax evaders. With the same speed as a naked woman in a stolen police car on the Interstate-8 in Maricopa County, USA, who tried to flee from a sheriff pursuing in a borrowed car, professional racist Marine Le Pen suddenly changed her mind and want to renegotiate the EU membership and remain in the euro instead of following the UK. Despite some bankers come to the conclusion that the economic consequences are to be lower than expected, at the same time it becomes clear that for the asylum and immigration problem it’s no solution at all, made the French Nationalists decide to channel their xenophobia in a different way. Meanwhile, consumer confidence in Portugal is growing steadily and more and more people have a hopeful look towards the future. Not because it's actually much better, but just because political leaders radiate positivism instead of populist scare tactics and accusatory fingers towards certain groups of the population. While Republican officials report that Trump is going to pay for the "Mexican wall" by American tax money after all, yet another Obama basher started a crowdfund action to fund the treatment of his cancer. Today, the weekly local market in town, offers a lot of "organic" fruits and vegetables for fair prices, people enjoy roasted chestnuts or a piece of grilled chicken and a happy immigrant buys a pair of affordable new shoes with 3 white stripes on the side, fake of course, but at least there’s enough of that produced in the world.
