Free as the Iberian Lynx..

Today is Monday, one of the few truths that we are still able to find consensus about, Monday the 20th February 2017. In a world full of accepted alternative facts however, you would be able to claim that it is Sunday during a conversation with an angry boss on the phone who asks you why you are not at work, it's his word against yours. Nothing does, in fact, have to be true to use it as an argument to support your own gut feeling. The Sun also shines at night, even though you have to go to the other side of the globe to see that, so the headache you have could just as well be of a heat stroke instead of those few glasses of wine, consumed while watching a farmer select five our of ten, uncertain chuffing, virgins in a TV program. Religious truths disappear like the proverbial snow in the Sun, you don't have to be dead jihadist, heaven is just a small caravan on a barnyard. While here in Portugal, the season for the release of captive-bred, Iberian Lynx has started and in the Mértola region the first couple goes out to hunt for rabbits and broken loose chickens, in Pig Paradise a few "patriotic" hunters are convicted of inventing a robbery by "illegal" border crossing villains. The police found two bleeding victims of a shooting on a ranch near Candelaria, who told that they were attacked by people who come across the nearby border to steal their monstrous truck. Good research revealed that one shot the other and the other shot back, both gunshots with an effective result. The uninsured, Obama-care cursing, supporters of Trump used their crap story to put a gofundme-page online to raise funds for the medical bills, by which they received more than 20,000 Dollars on their bank account. Yes, for great imagination you really have to applaud the Americans. The Portuguese could use some because in January, when one of two brothers, grown up in France, ran into a hospital in Guarda with a bullet wound to the leg, the only story he could come up with was a walk in the woods and an unexpected bang. It didn’t take long before the two brothers sat in a prison cell, next to a Scottish widow who buried her late husband in her garden, on suspicion of jihadism tendencies after the police found two "9 millimeter pistols" and a Koran in their car. While a Canadian police officer dispenses hot chocolate to a modern Von Trapp family at the end of their cross-border walk through the snow and a Dutch farmer, residing in France, is learning the tricks of love from a friendly compassionate TV hostess, the sawdustmaker himself is floundering his way back to the top of the lonely hill with an empty wheelbarrow. The empty bottles and packages of the weekend are neatly deposited in the appropriate waste containers, how nice it would if we could get rid of all the filth on this planet in such an easy and responsible way...
